In The Weight of Hope, I explore the quiet tension between concealment and resilience.

The figure’s gaze meets the viewer directly, steady and unflinching, while layers of movement sweep across the surface, partially obscuring and protecting. For me, the veil is not just concealment… it carries emotion, memory, and strength. It holds what is heavy, but also what endures.

I chose to work on raw linen so that the natural surface remains visible and breathing within the composition. The exposed texture grounds the piece, while the layered greens and gestural marks create movement and depth. The eyes are intentionally more resolved, anchoring the painting in stillness amidst motion.

This work speaks to the quiet strength required to carry hope, how it can feel both fragile and powerful at the same time.
